Our School

Paxton Academy is a new primary Free school which opened in September 2014 in Thornton Heath. Our vision encompasses academic and personal excellence with a particular emphasis on a) the firm grasp of literacy and numeracy skills b) Science and Sports as specialist subjects c) an international perspective through the widely acclaimed International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and d) the personal well-being and development of every child.

At Paxton your child’s happiness, health and well-being is at the centre of everything we do. We will therefore strive to ensure all children are physically active on a daily basis and that they develop the skills to build secure relationships with others based on respect, friendship and equality. We aim to develop a caring, supportive environment where children are confident and make strides in their learning because of high quality teaching delivered with passion, enthusiasm and high expectations for all with a collective determination to succeed (a fundamental attitude that will be instilled in all children).

Through our extended curriculum, your child will experience an amazing wealth of opportunities from an array of creative subjects such as music, art, performance poetry and drama to a wide range of sporting activities which will include both traditional and non-traditional sport as well as activities to challenge thinking and problem solving such as philosophy for children, enterprise, chess and debating.

Our ultimate goal is to inspire pupils to make a difference to their communities by helping them to become happy, healthy and responsible citizens, with a zest for life, an appetite for learning and the tools to succeed anywhere in the world.
We aim to encourage the development of each pupil's unique talents and gifts. Through our Science and Sports Academy, we promote a wide range of opportunities for a healthy lifestyle and a wide range of high quality sporting opportunities in Physical Education and sport.
